AgriCarbon-EO

AgriCarbon-EO is an end-to-end processing chain that assimilates remote sensing data into the PROSAIL radiative transfer model and the SAFYE-CO2 crop model, in the obective of quantification of carbon and water budget at intra-field resolution over regional scale.

AgriCarbon-EO was designed in the objective of answering the need for a relliable tool for the estimates of CO2 budget of crop fields that can be used in a Monitoring Review and Verification (MRV) strategy for Carbon Farming.

The MRV approach, and the specification need for a Carbon Budget model.
The main components of AgriCarbon-Eo (ACEO).

AgriCarbon-EO by associating a tailored assimilation solution based on BAyesian Normalised importance Sampling and Look-up Table (BASALT) to a parsimoneous crop model SAFYE-CO2 in order to maintain computational efficiency while providing accurate estimates of simulate biomass, yields, CO2 fluxes and C-budgets of crops, and water budget with their respective uncertainties at 10 m resolution on 110 x 110 km2 Sentinel-2 tiles.

The processes performed by the chain include the preparation of crop & soil maps, climate and remote sensing inputs, the inversion of the PROSAIL radiative transfer model (Jacquemoud et al., 2009) for the computation of the biophysical variables (e.g. LAI) needed as input to the agronomic model, the assimilation of the LAI data into the agronomic model (SAFYE-CO2), and finally the cartographic representation of the results.
